We were prepared for some backlash, but the trailer definitely reached way more people than we could ever anticipate, and all the hate and negativity coming our way has definitely had a huge impact on us. Many pointed out that not only does Enchanted Portals use a similar art style reminiscent of 1930's cartoons, but the trailer footage also shows similar gameplay mechanics and boss fights.
TL DR: Enchanted Portals could have been a great game, but it was bullied so hard that it has most likely. As with any other successful title, Cuphead has seen its fair share of ripoffs and scams. We’re both avid fans and we wanted to make something similar, but always from a place of respect and admiration for the original. Btw look at Brawlhalla, everyone called it a copy of smash, but at the end it became a great game with millions of players worldwide and was able to build a strong foundation for itself, and stoped being known as the smash bros rip off. “Yes, of course Cuphead was a huge inspiration for Enchanted Portals. This game feels almost plagiaristic as it has the same. Yesterday we shared the trailer for Enchanted Portals, which for all intents and purposes, is Cuphead made by a different company. A video game called Enchanted Portals has had a lot of people call it a ripoff to Cuphead and I have to agree with that consensus.
